Sole Durato

An Introduction

Sole Durato’s mission is to bring interesting programming and humor to a broader audience. We seek to prove that classical music is not only relevant but necessary. The group consists of four New England Conservatory graduates based in the greater Boston area: Austin Burns (tenor), Stephanie Mao (piano), and Jonas Kublickas and Raley Beggs (guitar). Sole Durato means "Setting Sun" in Italian, and it is an allusion to the Neapolitan favorite "O Sole Mio" by Eduardo di Capua

This album is a compilation of songs from our American program, our Neapolitan program, and comedy songs (which are a regular part of all of our programs) written by Austin Burns. We perform a wide-ranging repertoire of works including programs highlighting the poetry of Robert Burns, Irish songs, an exploration of opera arias, mixed programs such as “Around the World in 60 Minutes”, “The 3 Stages of Love” and more. We are currently in the process of completing our first completely original comedy project for a concert on international Star Wars Day (May the Fourth). Sole Durato performs across New England in festivals and in private homes using the concert presenting platform, GroupMuse.

All songs were recorded at Bach to Rock studios in Wellesley. The audio engineer was Claire Goh. Songs were mixed and mastered by Claire Goh, and the album was produced by Sole Durato. All songs were written and/or arranged by Austin Burns and Sole Durato. Songs 1-4 are part of the program “Music of America.” Songs 5-8 are comedy selections from “An Evening in Naples,” “My Wild Irish Set,” “Music of America,” and “A Galaxy That’s Far.” Songs 9-12 are from our most requested program, “An Evening in Naples.” This album features Austin Burns- vocals, cajone, shaker; Jonas Kublickas- classical guitar, melodica, bass, cajone; Stephanie Mao- piano; and Raley Beggs- classical guitar
